Ron Burgundy Recaps NFL Free Agency

Welcome back, Channel Four News Team!
Now that Peyton Manning has officially sold poor Tim Tebow to the Pharisees for approximately 4 billion pieces of silver, I have decided that free agency is officially over. Sure, there are still some moves to be made, but I’m just too upset to care anymore. Therefore, just as we did last year, Boris Diaw Time has brought in our good friends from San Diego to recap the 2012 NFL Free Agent frenzy. That’s right, give a big welcome to Ron Burgundy and the Channel Four News Team!

March Madness Second Weekend Preview

No explanation needed...
The Sweet Sixteen is now upon us, and unlike last year, we actually have some good teams left! Of course, I’m pretty sure there weren’t any good teams last year, but that’s beside the point. Other than the two shocking 15-2 upsets, most of the tourney’s higher seeds have advanced, and it’s now time to see how the best of the best stack up.

Before we get into my ridiculous preview, I wanted to take a moment to lament over a couple things the tournament has deprived us of.

The BDT Podcast (Mar 20)

As UNC fans know all too well, this play did not end well.
Jon and Laney review the first weekend of March Madness and look forward to the Sweet Sixteen.

A Look Back at the Best/Worst of the Opening Weekend of Madness

The ball is tipped, and there you are...you're running for your life, you're a shooting star...

And so the worst Monday in sports is upon us . As I write this, the time is now 2:02pm, but it honestly feels like the day has lasted 40 hours. Four straight days of non-stop college hoops drama, and suddenly we’re left to wait another three days for the action to pick up again. Three maddeningly long days. It surely seems like an eternity. I mean, we don’t even have a fake “First Round” that everyone essentially acknowledges as a prelim but still stupidly calls the “First Round” to tide us over!

What we do have is a lot of stuff to digest from the opening weekend of the tournament. With all this time to spare, let’s look back at the last four days and see if we can figure out what went down:

The BDT Podcast (Mar 16)

As awful as he is, Sam Worthington would dominate this year's mascot fight bracket.
Jon, Laney, Prince, and Casey pick their idiotic "mascot fight" bracket.

March Madness Preview

Think of something more exciting! I dare you! You can't!
Yes, it is officially that time of year again – MADNESS!!! As always, I am far too excited to watch a bunch of teams I either know nothing about, or caring nothing about. Perhaps I should be embarrassed to tell you that I’ll be losing my voice someone around Davidson and Montana, but somehow I’m not. Call it self-confidence, call it a lack of pride/shame, call it whatever you like. All I know is that I’ll have 11 full months to work my way back into shape until March Madness 2013, so why not go all out?

The BDT Podcast (Mar 13)

Jae Crowder...
Kenneth Faried...don't even try to tell me these two aren't the same person!
Jon and Laney make their official bracket predictions.

The BDT Podcast (Mar 7)

This was enough to make even a stone hearted guy like me feel sympathy.
Jon and Prince talk about Peyton Manning, with Jon starting to wonder if the Colts made the right decision. The two also point out that the NFL has clearly decided to adopt our suggested rule changes, and the league is now a kicker/punter's league.

NFL Offseason Preview -- Detroit Lions

C'mon, Lions fans. You know your boy would have gotten killed...
Though the Super Bowl is over and games don’t begin until next fall, the NFL season never truly ends. In many ways, the “game” that goes on in between the games is just as important, if not more so, than what happens on the field. Here, in the offseason, is where the course of all 32 NFL franchises is determined. To highlight the importance of this period, and to take a peek at what each team is facing, I’ll be embarking on an ambitious series in which I briefly preview each team’s offseason. We’ll examine the major questions each team faces, what type of cap room they have, who they should be targeting in the draft, etc. My goal is to complete this prior to the start of free agency (March 13)…..which will likely not happen. Oh well.

We continue the previews with one of the most fearsome post-game handshake teams in the league, the Detroit Lions. In case you missed them, here are links to each of our past previews:

I couldn't find a picture of Marvin Lewis stupidly throwing a challenge flag, so I just went with one of him looking very confused. Sorry to disappoint...

Oscars Reset -- 2004

It's been awhile, but we're finally back to put this little guy to good use. SOMEBODY has to!
If I was a betting man (we leave those types of things to Bill Simmons), I'd wager that you thought this little project was dead. Oh ye of little faith! It's only been since...wait...JULY?!?!? OK, so I guess I can see how you would misconstrue a 7+ month layoff -- to be fair, I have made it clear that I get bored with things rather easily. Nevertheless, this Oscars project is not dead! Look at it as more of a coma, and we've just woken up to find that our wives have remarried and our kids are in their 20's. Actually, now that I think about it, there's a pretty strong chance that our kids will be in their 20's by the time we finish this project. Let's not waste anymore time.
