The Andrew Luck Sweepstakes -- Preseason Week 3 Update

GINGER SIGHTING! RUN!
Another week gone by means another opportunity to sadistically mock the ill fortunes of a solid one-third of the league. Who couldn't pass this up? As always, keep in mind that this is preseason. The performance, or lack thereof, by younger QB's bears watching, but things should/will look drastically different by the middle of the regular season.

That having been said, there are some BAD QB's out there! Have I mentioned that before? Probably. Anyways, let's review what went down in Week 3 of the preseason. Once again, I am NOT ranking teams until the beginning of the regular season.

NFL Future Power Rankings (32-25)

You won't believe this, but I actually didn't give the Raiders any credit for drafting Pryor!

In the coming weeks, thousands upon thousands of sportswriters will descend on their computers to crank out the laziest, most played out gimmick ever conceived – NFL Power Rankings. There simply isn’t a more effective ‘gimme’ column out there than a power ranking. The topic is broad, the structure is pre-built…heck, the material pretty much writes itself!

Hey, wait a second – that sounds great! Let’s do a power ranking!

The Andrew Luck Sweepstakes -- Preseason Week 2 Update

NFL QB or sex offender? You decide!
One week ago, I handicapped what will likely be the most interesting subplot of the season for about a third of the league; the Andrew Luck Sweepstakes. With another week of preseason in the books, let's look at where everyone stands.

Casey's Most Annoying in Sports

THIS should definitely warrant the NCAA Death Penalty!
Back in July, I came up with a list of the people in sports who annoy me the most. The winner, of course, was the unapproachable (an unlistenable...if that's a word) Colin Cowherd. Shortly after, Casey submitted his own Top 25 Most Annoying in Sports. With all the NFL stuff going on, I haven't had a chance to run it, but today is finally that day! Courtesy of our good friend Casey Richey, here is another run-down of extremely annoying people in sports.

We're back for another season of Flacco-hate!

Fantasy Football Preview

I don't know how this guy got his job, but I'd like to sign up.
$800 million per year. $800 million! That's approximately how much the fantasy football industry makes per year. That's more than the GDP of more than a few countries! $800 million a year so 24 million over-obsessive losers can pretend they know something about football and derive endless amounts of self satisfaction from beating Steve from Accounts Payable. Is this the biggest waste of time in the history of man? Perhaps. Do I feel a single shred of remorse over a single second of my life I've spent on fantasy football? Not a chance.

Handicapping the Andrew Luck Sweepstakes

Let the watch begin!
Amidst the constrant stream of undeserved hype surrounding the NFL preseason, there is one thing that deserves adoration; one glorious aspect of the NFL that seperates it from other professional sports, creating a vibrant, exciting league each and every season. Hope. Whether it be in life or in sports, hope is a powerful thing. The mere idea that your favorite team could turn their fortunes around overnight is a strong allure to staying invested.

That Was An Overreaction!

I've never laughed so hard at a TV show...just ask Casey, who was trying desperately to sleep in the room next to me!
Written by: Jared Prince -- Prince is a regular contributor to Boris Diaw Time! and is a frequent guest on the Boris Diaw Time! podcast...almost bordering on co-host. Thankfully for all of us, we haven't reached that point  yet.

It’s over. Don’t even bother watching football this year. The top teams have already shown themselves, and after the way they dominated their first games, all that’s left to do is crown them. Sorry Packers. Sorry Steelers. You were both beaten by teams expected to combine for less than 8 wins this year, so you’re done. What a disgrace to your fans. The fans who should be excited, though, root for the Lions and the Browns. After dominating performances in the first week of preseason, everyone should probably go ahead and lock these two teams in as their Super Bowl picks.

2011 NFL Preview -- Interesting Look at NFL Futures

Colt, I'm so sorry for unintentionally cursing you! You know I love you!
(All betting lines are from Bodog.com)

In a miraculous series of events, I was able to singlehandedly complete all 8 division previews in a week AND the podcast up and running again. Honestly, you can't ask for a more productive period of time from me. It's just not doable. Of course, you could argue that the preview and the podcast was crap...and you'd be right. Still, you should know what to expect by now. Nothing. And that's exactly what I accomplished. Couldn't be prouder.

BDT with Laney and Prince (Aug 14)

From this picture, it's hard to tell if Grossman was brought back to play QB or to replace Haynesworth. Honestly, his chances of success are about the same for both.

Jon, Laney, and Prince review/mock the NFL free agency period.

2011 NFL Preview -- NFC East

Please Tony! Just once, come through for me!
Apart from a few inconsequential signings and the impending un-retirement of Brett Favre (and Randy Moss), the frenzied NFL off-season is over and done with. With rosters in place and training camps under way, we now have a slightly clearer picture of what the 2011 NFL season will look like. Of course, no one can actually know what will happen during the season, but it sure is fun to speculate!

Ron Burgundy Recaps Free Agency Part II

Don't worry, Ron's got plenty more to say.
Ron Burgundy and the Channel Four News Team return today to finish up their recap of the 2011 NFL Free Agent season! In case you missed it, here's what they had to say yesterday.

Ron Burgundy Recaps Free Agency Part I

Ron's been keeping up with the free agent news and he has some viewpoints he'd like to share with us.
Since most of the splashy signings are long done, I figured it was time to end the daily reviews. Instead, we need to take a step back and figure out what the NFL landscape looks like after the flurry of transactions over the last week.

As I've said many times before, free agency is vastly overrated and it does not, in any way, guarantee success. For proof, please see the Washington Redskins. However, while you can't build a winner through free agency, you can patch holes and add missing pieces. This makes free agency a valuable tool for already contending teams. Thus, free agency IS important, and it bears major observation. And who better to make those observations than our good friend from San Diego (which means...), Ron Burgundy! Ron, tell us what you think!

NFL Free Agency Day 5/6 Recap

Coming soon!
By the time Saturday had rolled around, most of the big names were off the board. The inevitable Kevin Kolb theft had been pulled, the unpredictable Nnamdi sweepstakes had wrapped up, and the Panthers had nearly outspent the U.S. government. Despite the lack of big names though, there were plenty of holes for teams to patch up. Let's run it back and examine the weekends handywork!

NFL Free Agency Day 4 Recap

Look, Flozell Adams with a big handful of jersey. Isn't that a surprise...
By the early hours of Friday, most of the top free agents have been scooped up and overpaid. Thankfully, there's plenty more money to go around and plenty of desperate teams to metaphorically douse it in gasoline and light it on fire.

NFL Free Agency Day 3 Review

I can't even begin to express how odd this picture is...
Wait? It's not Day 3 anymore? I missed the entire weekend?! CRAP!

So, I went ahead and bought a house last week. At the time, it seemed like a really good idea.....now, after approximately 700 consecutive hours of labor, a death match with the horrible wallpaper in the master bedroom, and a literal death match involving my mom falling off a ladder and shattering her wrist, I'm starting to think I should go ahead and put it back on the market. In case my wife reads this, I'm only kidding! It's a joke! (Seriously though, does anyone want to buy a house???)
