My Christmas Thoughts

With the Christmas season upon us, I thought it would be appropriate to project some old-fashioned holiday spirit by straying from the usual rankings and ravings (aka. Me making fun of everybody) and writing a column appropriate for this festive time of year. While it is appropriate for us to be wishful for good things during Christmas, it is also important to be thankful for the good things we have. Thus, I present to you, in true Christmas form, a list of things that I am both thankful for and wishful for. Enjoy!

Point Guard Power Rankings

Little known fact about this picture...there was another basketball under his left arm, but Baron ate it before the picture.

We're only a quarter of the way through the NBA season and the craziness has already started. Huge winning streaks by Boston, Miami, and New York, as well as our first mega trade (2 trades actually) in which Orlando essentially remakes its team on the fly...and we aren't even to Christmas yet!

All of that said, the level of play/talent has gone up significantly over the last few seasons, culminating in what seems to be the most entertaining and compelling start to an NBA season since the Jordan era. The reason? Point guards. I don't have to tell you that a good point guard makes a team infinitely better. They bring out the best in their teammates and lift the level of play. This current crop of point guards is perhaps the most talented since the Magic, Isaiah era...and you could even argue that it is the most talented ever! With that in mind, I figured it would be interesting to rank them.

NFC West...Bad

Do I even need to add a witty joke to this? I didn't think so.

Jon talks to Casey, a 49ers fan, about the NFC West, whether a losing team should make the playoffs, and the glut of ridiculous baseball contracts.

2010 Heisman Preview...May The Best Pro Win?

Written by: Nick

The Heisman trophy. Growing up, the award embodied a sense of prestige. I held the winners in awe. As an Ohio State fan, I was genuinely proud when Eddie George won in 1995. Upon hearing his name called, I remember shouting for joy and delivering such a tremendous fist pump that even the members of the Jersey Shore cast would have been proud.

NBA Power Rankings

We are about a quarter of the way through the season. For most teams, we have seen enough to determine how good they are. For others, well, your guess is as good as mine. Undaunted, I forge through and rank them from last to first.

30. Sacramento Kings (4-15)
Being a huge NBA fan, and an addicted fantasy league manager, I decided to buy the NBA League Pass this year. To save money, I opted for the Choice package, where you pick 7 teams to follow throughout the year. Believe me when I say that I was actually excited to pick the Kings. My thinking; a budding young superstar in Tyreke Evans and an exciting young core featuring DeMarcus “Big Cuz” Cousins (I’m a huge UK fan) would equate to a season of fun with these Kings. Lesson learned. I could have bought a Lady GaGa album on ITunes and it would have been a wiser use of my money.
29. Minnesota Timberwolves (5-16)
Don’t worry Minnesota fans, Ricky Rubio should be coming any day! AYE AYE AYE AYE (that’s me acting like a Spaniard)!!! Despite this record, Michael Beasley seems very calm and relaxed…I think we all know why.

Monday Night Recap

He may have won last night, but can you truly be a winner when you have Justin Bieber's haircut?

It certainly seemed like a good match-up. Well, at least at the time it seemed like a good match-up. Bitter division rivals? Yes. Two teams loaded with Pro Bowl caliber players? Definitely. A healthy distaste for one another? Without a doubt.  Anytime two 9-2, Super Bowl aspiring teams meet, fans should expect an epic game. What we got instead was something fairly similar to what would happen if I played my 20 month old daughter in a game of Madden.
